Beyond a Reasonable Doubt

80 minutes 1956 6.9

Journalist Tom Garrett is released from work to write a novel. But in the absence of inspiration, he allows himself to be persuaded by the boss, who is also his father-in-law, to write a fact book about the death penalty. When a murder case lacks both clues and suspects, the two decide for Tom to fabricate evidence against himself, while the boss sits on evidence that proves his innocence - all to point out that the death penalty is an injustice. But will Tom's father-in-law keep his promise, and will there be others who will put sticks in the wheels for them?
