Billy Taggart has a promising career as a New York cop until he gets involved in a controversial shooting drama. He dodges getting in jail with a little help from New York's popular mayor, but is stripped of his political badge and begins working as a private detective. So when the mayor offers to pay well to reveal his wife's infidelity, it seems like an easy job for the money. The mayor turns out to be not who everyone he thinks he is.
