Postman Joseph Ferdinand Cheval delivers mail along Drôme, from village to village. On his route he meets the love of his life, Philomena, and they soon get their daughter Alice. Cheval loves his daughter dearly and decides to embark on an unbelievable challenge: He wants to build her an incredible palace with his own hands.
He spends 33 years of his life building something remarkable: "The Ideal Palace". This is a story based on real life. The local postman Ferdinand Cheval built an incredible stone palace between 1879 and 1912 in his garden in Hauterives without any past knowledge of architecture. “The ideal palace" is now considered an extraordinary example of naive architecture and has inspired artists for more than a century.
