Neïla Salah (Camélia Jordana) is a young French woman of Arab origin who, despite a poor upbringing, has succeeded in entering law school at the university. There she is taught by, among others, the well-known Pierre Mazard. Mazard is a brilliant lecturer, but also a provocateur who has a hard time hiding his sexist and racist views. After treading on the salad in the most egregious way in public, where Neïla is exposed to his outdated attitudes, Pierre is thoroughly reprimanded by the school management and forced to agree to Neïla's request - to be her mentor ahead of the school's prestigious rhetoric competition.
