Yao, a young boy who loves adventure, escapes from his village in northern Senegal to go to Dakar and meet his hero, Seydou Tall. The famous French actor, who is visiting his homeland, is overwhelmed by Yao's enthusiasm and decides to follow him home. But in Senegal, things do not always go as planned and on their entertaining journey back to Yao's village, Seydouat realizes the trip brings him in touch with his own roots - for better or worse.
Yao is a piece of cinematic mindfulness, which shows you that it is only when they stop and really take the world and the people you meet on your way inward, and let go of the thought of always being one step ahead in life, that you fully and completely will find peace and happiness.
