We are in France, in the 1700s. At the beginning of the French revolution gastronomy is still a privilege for the aristocracy. When talented chef Manceron is fired by the duke of Chamfort, he loses interest in cooking. Back at his mansion the mysterious Louise helps renew his interest in cooking. They both hold grudges against the duke of Chamfort, for different reasons, but they also share an interest in food. Together they decide to create the very first restaurant in France. This exquisite and apetizing film encapsulates the beauty of the kitchen, as a place to create and consume. It is a comedy that mocks the aristocrats and their lifestyle, where the real star of the kitchen is the food itself.
