Heidi enjoys a peaceful childhood in the Swiss Alps with her grandfather. Her days are spent tending the goats and playing in the mountains with her best friend, Peter. The beautiful landscape they grew up in is a source of endless fun for the two friends. All that day Heidi's aunt takes her to Frankfurt to live with a wealthy family and their daughter, Clara, who is in a wheelchair. Despite their vastly different backgrounds, this is the beginning of a strong bond of friendship that will change the two girls' lives forever.
