One year after his son's sudden disappearance during a Halloween parade, Mike Cole (Nicolas Cage) inexplicably sees his son's spiritual presence. Together with his ex-wife (Sarah Wayne Callies), Mike investigates a number of clues in hopes of finding out what happened to his son. To their dismay, they find out that an evil spirit reappears every year on Halloween to abduct an innocent child - and if they fail to save their son within a short time frame, he will be trapped in the spirit world forever.
