Gagarine

98 minutes 2020 6.7

16-year-old Yuri lives in the Gagarine building (Cité Gagarine) on the outskirts of Paris - a classic "Eastern Bloc" residential complex to be demolished. This is a real building that was set up by the communist government in France in 1963 and which started its demolition process in 2019. Yuri has both warm and strong feelings for his home, and starts his own demonstration process when he hears about the demolition plans. Together with friends Diana and Houssam, they begin various measures in an attempt to prevent the destruction of what Yuri considers his "spaceship". After all, the film draws parallels to the name behind the Gagarine building: the cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin.

Gagarine is both introspective and a dreamy flight in narrative form and image use, but also shows how easily one can judge both people and society based on the buildings they live in.

The film is not playable outside of Norway
