Tommy Riordan, an ex-Marine with a tragic past, returns to his hometown to take part in history's biggest MMA tournament ever. He asks his alcoholic father (Nick Nolte), who has also been a boxer, for help with the training, but Tommy's distant brother Brendan also plans to participate in the tournament. Brendan is a former MMA boxer who is now trying to support his family as a schoolteacher.

Their shared goal of winning the tournament once again drives the two brothers into collision course, and in the midst of their most intense training ever, they are forced to confront the skeletons of the past.
