Protected by superior Tor and his wife, Per communicates with London from his secret radio station at the top of Rikshospitalet's women's clinic in Oslo. The previous radio telegraphist, Frimann, is wanted by the Germans, and has been ordered by the Home Front to get to Sweden. But something is holding him back: His girlfriend is expecting a baby. When the Gestapo takes up residence in her apartment and Frimann finally visits her, an exchange of gunfire ensues.
The film is based on Knut Haugland's book about his own experiences. Skouen was not primarily concerned with the historical, and moved the conflict to a more universal, psychological level. What do extreme external circumstances do to the individual?
