Ninjababy

103 minutes 2021 7.2

Ninjababy is a comedy about 23-year-old Rakel, who only when she is six months ahead discovers that she became pregnant after a little romantic one-night stand. Rakel has never wanted to be a mother, and reacts with denial, anger and frustration. She feels the baby in her womb has tricked her: "It's a fucking fucking sneaky ninja baby, who just thinks it can hide in there and enjoy herself, and then sneak out nine months later."

When Ninjababy soon crawls out of Rachel's drawing books and out of her mind, it does not take long before he realizes that he must fight for his own future. Rakel, on the other hand, has to navigate between what she thinks is best for herself and the best for her child - or is it perhaps the same thing?

Ninjababy is a touching and funny film about growing up, and how unprepared you can be to experience something as natural as getting pregnant. The film is directed by Yngvild Sve Flikke, and is based on the cartoon novel Fallteknikk by Inga H. Sætre. Sætre has also done the animations in Ninjababy.

Nominated for 11 Amanda-awards in 2021, won four of them.

The film is not playable outside of Norway
