Gia Coppola's acclaimed debut film Palo Alto is about High School students Teddy, April, Fred and Emily who are all looking for something to do in Palo Alto's boring suburban environment.
April is on the wane and is drawn between an attraction to her older football coach and an innocent crush on Teddy - a disastrous skater whose buddy Fred begins to lose it. The equally confused Emily uses sex to get confirmation.
Palo Alto, based on James Franco's short story collection of the same name, captures the uncertainty and loneliness of the teenage age. With amazing acting performances by Emma Roberts and Jack Kilmer and Gia Coppola's wise direction, Palo Alto shows that talent doesn't always skip a generation. The film also features new music from Devonté Hynes from Blood Orange.
