A 17-year-old inmate is raped and killed in one of Denmark's largest prisons. For Katrine, the case becomes a powerful encounter with a past she would most like to forget, and she attacks the system that made the assault possible.

When another prisoner is killed in the same way, it becomes clear that a serial killer is loose behind the walls. The case attracts a lot of attention in the press, and the police receive massive criticism that such a thing can happen at all in a Danish prison. Do criminals have less protection requirements than others? Katrine and Thomas work under intense pressure to circle the perpetrator in an environment of hatred, violence and revenge. An environment that penetrates under the skin on both of them, and provokes sides they would rather not recognize.
