Around Europe, in children's movies.
Join the exotic journey and discover Europe through children's eyes.
We begin our journey in Berlin, Germany, where a young girl gets a diagnosis she struggles to accept. In Miracle on the Mountain Amelie must deal with difficult feelings: loneliness, bad self esteem, fear and grief. But most of all, she needs to learn how to accept help from others.
Fairly close, in Switzerland, we meet an old acquaintance in the Swiss alps. Heidi lives with her grandfather and takes care of the goats, when her aunt decides to bring her to Frankfurt to teach her how to behave like a lady. But it doesn't turn out exactly as Heidi's aunt planned.
We find a bus heading for France. In Belle & Sebastian we are in the mountains in France, during World War 2. A young boy connects with a dog everyone fears. This is a hopeful story about people working together to keep their courage up, and survive tough times.
We continue through France to visit single dad Djibi and his daughter Sofia in The Forgotten Prince. A 7-year-old is easily impressed by her father's goodnight stories, but how about a 12-year-old who is starting to outgrow them?
We have enough time for a trip to the capitol in animated A Cat in Paris. Dino the cat leads a double-life as a sweet domestic cat by day, and thrill-seeking cat burglar by night.
A short trip by TGV-train brings us to Britain, where Paddington is both an underground station and the name of a charming bear. In Paddington we get to know the bear as he arrives and finds a family. In Paddington 2 he faces challenges and must use all his tricks to solve the situation.
Further out in the English countryside wonders have not seized, in this wellknown and beloved story by writer Frances Hodgson Burnett. Mary has been left orphaned and is sent from her exotic home in India to her uncle's cold estate. The Secret Garden is beautifully designed and with a hint of everyday magic and a spark of hope.
Quite close, in Ireland, Ben and his little sister Saoirse live with their dad on an island. The animated The Song from the Sea is a fantastic and award-winning tale.
On an island a little further south, 10-year-old Sam meets a girl on his holiday. She is looking for her biological father. The Summer with Tess is a warm and inspiring story with a 7.0 on the IMDb-scale.
It gets slightly colder in Ploey, a movie from Iceland about a tiny ringed plover bird who has not yet learned to fly to be able to migrate south for the winter. He must survive in the Arctic winter, but fortunately he is not alone!
We finish our journey in Scandinavia with Halvdan Viking, a Swedish viking story with similarities to Ronja the Robber's Daughter. 11-year-old Halvdan from East town befriends the king's daughter from West town. An exciting viking drama from 2018, filmed in the beautiful, Swedish forests.
But The Toughest Guys may possibly be found in Norway? Modulf is being bullied, but handling it quite well, in his own opinion. His neighbour Lise does not agree, she thinks his ideas are silly. The movie is based on the book by Arne Svingen.
