Veronica, a young teacher, is convicted of fraud, after being falsely accused of abusing her position of power over 17-year-old Clive. Her dad tries to have her released from prison, but she decline to be saved, on the grounds that she feels guilty for previous criminal acts, and thinks she deserves punishment. 

Frustrated by his daughter's negligence, the father takes out all his aggression through his job as a food inspector. He weels great power over small, family-owned restaurants, a power he does not hesitate to use.
