Famous playwright Robert Longfellow returns to his childhood home to visit his mother. Her neighbor Gus, a prison bird, whom he has tried to avoid already as a child, takes him hostage. As the drama unfolds on the news in all TV channels, these two men are approaching each other, until the mood darkens and shots are fired.
