The Tree Feller

82 minutes 2017 6.2

Anders (Anders Baasmo Christiansen) grew up in Rukkedalen with a strong urge to break away. He was going to go out into the world and never look back. But after twenty years in Oslo, life is still not in place. With a feeling of having lost everything that matters, he returns to his home village and moves into the small farm he has inherited from his parents. With an ax and the power of his fists, Anders spends his days cutting down trees in his forest, but he is no forest worker. He has no plan for what he does, just a goal to find peace in nature and devote himself to the physical work.

The idyll quickly cracks when he meets his relatives, who believe he is letting the family legacy go to waste. They each have their own approach to how they can help their lost relative and refuse to leave Anders alone. Anders feels trapped. Not even in nature can he become free from himself and his own past.
