Blinded by the Light tells the story of a teenager from Pakistan who grew up in England (1987) in a time filled with racial issues and economic unrest. Javed writes poems as a means of escaping intolerance and ignorance, but when a classmate introduces him to "The Boss", he sees parallels with his working class life in Springsteen's lyrics, and then begins to express his own unique voice.
