Knut and His Friends

25 minutes 2008 6.6

When the polar bear Knut was born in December 2006 in Berlin Zoo, he was no bigger than a snowball. But the newborn polar bear cub was rejected by its mother, and his fate was left to the vets. After 44 days in an incubator, Knut became, against all odds, the first polar bear cub to be born and survived in a zoo of over 30 years.

He was raised by vet Thomas while the whole world watched. He quickly became a world celebrity, and people could follow his development via news media around the world.
