Herself
Sandra escapes with her children from her violent husband and fights to give her two daughters a safe upbringing. With physical and mental scars after years of violence and threats, two jobs and under strong pressure from the social and housing bureaucracy, she is determined to change their lives and arrange a safe home. When it becomes clear that the city council will not provide the intended home, she decides to build it herself. With a very small income and no savings at all, Sandra must use all her ingenuity to make her dream come true. Sandra is helped by new and old friends, and through the love for them and her young daughters, she slowly begins to find strength and the way back to herself.
