In 1895, Louis and Auguste Lumière invented the cinematograph and filmed some of the very first films in the history of cinema. From more than 1,400 of their films, Thierry Frémaux, director of the Cannes Film Festival and Lumière Institute, has selected 114 world-renowned masterpieces or previously unknown footage, restored and collected to celebrate Lumière's legacy.
