Under Napoleon's rule, François Vidocq is known for having succeeded in escaping from many of the country's largest prisons. He is therefore a legend in Paris' underworld. When he is accused of a murder he has not committed, he instead offers to cooperate with the police in exchange for his freedom. Despite his great progress as a detective, he also arouses the anger of the police, at the same time as the mafia has put a price tag on his head.

Jean-Francois Richet, the director behind i.a. Blood Father, Mesrine and Assault on Precinct 13, have created their dream project with a budget of 20 million Euros. Tough fight scenes, an ambitious historical story and an exquisite Vincent Cassel in the lead role
