A business dinner is held at Bräda Saftfabrikk to launch the factory's new products, when the company's CEO Manfred Stjärne is murdered. Is there someone who wants to ruin Bräda's good reputation or are there personal motives behind it?
Wallander is on the case and he soon realizes that money is a key factor, and that the person or people behind it do not stop with one murder to achieve their goals within the company. The murder wave continues, and a methodical serial killer can break loose in Ystad. The police are drawn into a web of brainwashing, infidelity and hatred from former employees, a relationship that will affect Wallander more than he could ever have imagined.
