Congratulations, Mr. Chaplin!

A legendary comical talent.

Charlie Chaplin (Sir Charles Spencer Chaplin jr.) was born 16.april 1889. He was a British film director, actor and producer. He loved the theatre from his childhood, but wasn't "discovered" until he met filmproducer Mack Sennett. He had his movie debut in 1914, developing a rogue vagabond character that was later iconic.

From the 1920s he was a vital character in Hollywood, as an actor, but also as a script writer, producer and director. When sound was introduced in films, he began writing his own film music.

He dealt with political and critical themes in many of his films. An example is The Great Dictator (1940), where he dealt with Hitler and the Nazis in the role as the dictator Hynkel.
