A family of three is looking forward to going on holiday. The journey comes to an abrupt end when the mother is killed in an accident, and their whole life is suddenly turned upside down. Without the mother, who has been the link for the small family, everything will be like starting over. In their own way, father Roger and son Pål try to live on, but loss and guilt threaten to tear them apart.
