The gardener Jobe is a trusting man with the intelligence of a child. He mowes lawns and helps out at church, but his simplemindedness is being exploited by not so friendly people around him. He becomes a test person for a VR-experiment providing him with supernatural intelligence. A grim need for control grows in him, and when he comes on the verge between man and machine, both reality and virtual reality are at risk.
