In 1986 a highstanding South Korean diplomat is kidnapped by a militant group. Two years later the kidnappers contact the South Korean Foreign Ministry demanding a ransom of five million dollars. The year is 1988, and pending the upcoming Olympics in Seoul, South Korea wants their diplomat back.
The Foreign Ministry agree to the terms, but a question arises. How do you deliver five million dollars in cash to a militia group in the middle of a civil war? Lee Min-jun, a young and ambitious diplomat, takes on the mission. But rumours spread fast in Beirut, and soon everyone - from the chief of the army to local warlords- know that a Korean is heading home with a large sum of money. And everyone wants it, even those who seem to be his friends. The movie is based on real events.
