At the beginning of the 8th grade, Pierre Anthon realizes that life is meaningless, and moves up into a tree. Then an existential crisis arises among his classmates. They decide to collect their most valuable possessions in a meaningful pile that will convince Pierre Anthon that he is wrong and should come down from the tree. A dangerous, disturbing and controversial investigation into what creates meaning has begun.
