In a French village in the 1920s the young and inexperienced Donissan starts working as a priest, doubting his abilities. But, when the young woman Mouchette confides a mortal sin to him, he finds meaning in his calling. Under the Sun of Satan is a gripping drama about faith, doubt and evil starring Gérard Depardieu (Cyrano de Bergerac, The Man in the Iron Mask) and Sandrine Bonnaire (The Ceremony, À nos amors). The film won the Palm d'Or for Best Film at the Cannes Film Festival in 1987.
