For many of us society seems like a maze of accidents waiting to happen. This is also the case for Mr. Hulot. As an inquisitive traveller he enters the most modern building complex in Paris. A guaranteed dust-free environment of plastic and steel pipes, complete with a flight terminal, a luxury hotel and a display of inventions that no one needs. Here's everything- except imagination. 

Two worlds meet and collide. The old one, preferred by Mr. Hulot, who tries to understand what's happening around him, and the new one, where people try to keep their insecurity in check by modern invention. The results are comical.
