Suffragette

106 minutes 2015 6.9

Suffragette is an intense drama following the story of the footsoldiers of the early feminist movement, where women who fought for equality was persecuted by an increasingly brutal government. The battle for the right to vote was fought by hard-working women willing to lose everything in their quest for equality. Maud was one such footsoldier. The story of her battle for dignity is both heartbreaking and inspiring.

Sarah Gavron (Brick Lane) is directing and the script is by Abi Morgan, who also wrote The Iron Lady, Shame and the TV-series The Hour.
