As his daughter dies, a scientist sinks into grief. His faith in God is destroyed, but his wife still does not want him to finish writing his great work on the theory of evolution. He struggles between his two worlds, the one in science and the one in the family. The man's name is Charles Darwin, and the book he is working on is On the Origin of Species.
Paul Bettany (The Avengers, Dogville) plays Darwin and Jennifer Connelly (A Beautiful Mind, Requiem for a Dream) his wife in this moving biographical drama.
