The story of China's last emperor, Puyi. He is taken prisoner of war by the Red Army, and in prison he sits and looks back on his life. A life that has been marked by the splendor and prosperity of the Forbidden City, a tumultuous leadership, and not least the great Chinese revolution.

The Last Emperor was the first foreign film to be allowed to film inside the Forbidden City, and it was awarded nine Oscars in 1988, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Screenplay.

The film is not playable outside of Norway
