The British soldier Jody is kidnapped by the IRA, but establishes an unexpected bond of friendship with the guard Fergus. When the demands for Jody's release are not met, Fergus is given the task of executing him, a task Fergus will have to struggle to complete. On the run from the IRA, Fergus starts a new life in London, where Jody's former life will have a big impact on him.
