Cami (Heather Graham) and daughter Aster (Sophie Nélisse) have a typical dysfunctional relationship after the divorce from ex-husband Craig. When Craig tragically dies after a heart attack, Cami and Aster meet Craig's widow and daughter, Rachel and Talulah. It turns out that Craig had debts and that the family should be thrown out of their home. Cami offers Rachel a place to live, a deal that naturally creates dissatisfaction with Aster. But more secrets and dark clouds will soon hang over the newly expanded family.
