Brassed off

108 minutes 1996 7.2

The film takes place in a small mining community in Yorkshire where the authorities have decided that the mines will be closed, with subsequent unemployment as a result. A local big band is preparing for a major national competition for big bands, and is about to give up because of the outside circumstances. But band leader Danny maintains the enthusiasm of the guys, who get renewed inspiration when a young beautiful girl, the daughter of a former big band leader, returns to her hometown.

Brassed Off has built its action on a social realist reality, with some musical sports metaphors, and ends up as a pure "feelgood" movie.

The film is not playable outside of Norway
