Kate Plays Christine

112 minutes 2016 6.2

What does it mean to tell someone else's story? In this mix of documentary and psychological thriller, Robert Greene follows Kate Lyn Sheil (House of Cards) in her creative process as she prepares for her next, tragic role: Christine Chubbuck, a Florida newsreader who committed suicide directly in the air in 1974.

As Kate investigates and eventually becomes obsessed with Chubbuck's story, she discovers that little is actually known about the real woman. Through this collaboration, Robert, Kate and cinematographer Sean Price Williams ask questions about the sometimes unclear boundaries between performance, the authentic self and the narrative instinct.
