Amin is 36 years old, well educated and successful. On the surface everything seems perfect, but when his girlfriend Kasper proposes to him, he is gripped by anxiety. An anxiety to let someone in completely. No one knows Amin's full story, not even his future husband. If Amin is to be able to live his life to the fullest, he will have to open up about what he was ordered to keep secret as a child.

For the first time, Amin tells his story about his escape from Afghanistan to Denmark. Amin's confrontation with the past takes him back to a happy childhood in 1980s Kabul, with a-ha on the walkman and a Jean Claude Van Damme poster in the boys' room. But also the memories of a merciless civil war, which transforms the safe everyday life into a war zone and splits his family. The war sends 11-year-old Amin and his family on a dangerous flight, which only ends five years later, when he arrives in Denmark - all alone.
