The members of an internationally renowned string quartet fight to stay together despite illness, competing egos and individual needs that can no longer be suppressed.

At the same time as the world-famous string quartet will open the season on its 25th anniversary, their cellist Peter (Christopher Walken) is diagnosed with symptoms of Parkinson's disease. When Peter announces that the season will be his last, his colleagues acknowledge that they are at a crossroads. Strong egos and big emotions threaten to destroy many years of friendship and cooperation.
