In the late 1970s in the northeastern United States, teenage brothers Donnie and Joe Emerson dream of making an album. With the support of the family, they manage to make an entire album, but without a record company behind it, it quickly falls into oblivion. Over thirty years later, it is suddenly hailed by music critics worldwide as a forgotten classic, and the duo's career can finally begin in earnest.
