When he investigating how school children died in an earthquake, his studio got vandalized and he was abused by the police. It is against a backdrop of strict censorship that Ai, through art and social media, expresses himself.

Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry is a fascinating portrait of one of China's most controversial people. The documentary is directed by Alison Klaymans.
