Michael Cera plays Nick Twisp. A unique but gracious teenager with a taste for the sophisticated things in life like Sinatra and Fellini. He falls in love with the beautiful, intelligent and liberated Sheeni Saunders (Portia Doubleday) on a camping holiday with the family. But geography, family and jealous ex-girlfriends conspire to keep Nick and Sheeni apart.
Encouraged by Sheeni, Nick abandons his boring, predictable life and develops a rebellious alter ego; Francois Dillinger. With his mustache, tie, deeper voice and bad boy attitude, there is nothing that will stop Francois from being with Sheeni, leading Nick Twisp on a path to destruction with unforeseen and catastrophic consequences.
