In this adventure film, based on Sverre Brandt's play, we meet little princess Gulltopp who disappears from the castle on Christmas Eve itself. She has gone out into the woods to find the poinsettia. It is her uncle, the naughty and greedy count, who has tricked her into doing so. The king's and the queen's attempts to find her do not succeed, and the queen also disappears. It takes many years before something happens.
