A twisted double-homicide in a quiet desert town upsets the local Chief of Police Jordan Sanders (Jon Hamm). 

The two murdered women have no obvious connection beside the fact tht they have the exact same name; Maggie Moore. 

When Sanders meets Rita (Tina Fey), the neighbour of one of the murdered women, the plot starts to make sense, but with a twist: they hit it off and start a distracting romance in the middle of the ongoing investigation. To solve the crime and restore normality Sanders must manage unreliable witnesses, lurking husbands and an eccentric assassin.
