The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry

107 minutes 2022 6.8

When pensioner Harold Fry leaves the house one morning to post a letter while his wife Maureen cleans, he has no idea that he is about to embark on a journey from the south to the north of England. On foot. He has no proper shoes, no map, no compass at all, he has neither rain gear nor mobile phone. He just knows he has to go. To save the life of a woman he knew long ago. Queenie has written to him and told him that she is going to die.

When his wife Maureen realizes what he has suddenly done, she becomes both worried and angry. During the long journey through England, Harold gains new insight. He understands that what he is really trying to achieve is reconciliation - both with himself, with Maureen and experiences in their past. Can Harold's pilgrimage lead to him and his wife finding their way back to each other?

An inspiring tale of forgiveness and friendship, based on the Rachel Joyce Booker Prize-nominated book of the same name.
