It's the early 20th century and two young Cambridge students, Clive and Maurice, fall in love. Clive realizes that it will not work if he does not want to lose all prestige in his social circles, and ends their relationship to get married and start a family. But when Maurice comes to live with Clive and his wife, the drama flares up as Maurice finds new love in the forester's arms.

Maurice is a classic Merchant Ivory drama starring Hugh Grant (Notting Hill, Love Actually), James Wilby (Gosford Park, Howards End) and Ben Kingsley (Gandhi, Schindler's List).
