Alfred's father sends Alfred on a hunting and fishing trip to make him a real man. He neither shoots nor catches anything, but instead falls in love with a girl. His insecurities make him lie about his identity, so he pretends to be champion boxer Alfred "Battling" Butler. He gets his father and brother to play with, and now he has to play out his invented facade until the last moment.
