Through nine chapters we get to follow the journey of the monk, artist and icon painter Andrei Rublyov through a war-torn Russia. The princes are fighting for territorial power, and the cities are waiting in fear of invasions that can occur at any time. At the same time, Rublyov seeks answers to the ultimate questions about his own existence.

Tarkovsky's epic Andrei Rublev is praised by both film critics and the Vatican, and was awarded the FIPRESCI Prize in Cannes.
