Birds of Passage

125 minutes 2018 7.5

Colombia 1968: Long before Pablo Escobar is a name on everyone's lips, a Wayuu family lays the foundation for the drug trade for which the country is to be known.

When the young, newlywed Rapayet sells some marijuana to some Americans from the Peace Corps, this trade becomes the start of a big business. Soon, Rapayet's family will be the region's richest and most powerful. But wealth comes with a high price. The head of the tribe, the powerful Ursula, fears that they will ignore the warnings of their ancestors and a brutal war for power and money will break out. The war puts not only the lives of the family at stake, but also their entire culture and traditions.
